Flutterwave attracts $250m in Series D funding to further its cross-border payment platform.

Flutterwave has seen massive growth over the past few years in its cross-border payments platform. 900k businesses globally use Flutterwave to process payments in 150 countries using local and international cards, mobile wallets, bank transfers as well as using its Barter product, designed for consumer use.

Flutterwave started out building its payments product across Africa, but in recent years has grown into the Egyptian and Morrocan market.

CEO Olugbenga Agboola explains, “We’re becoming what we wanted to be: the infrastructure for any kind of payments,” Agboola said. “There’s no sector you look at today in Africa that you wouldn’t see Flutterwave taking a piece of that and enabling merchants and consumers to grow and scale.”

Zillionize saw the potential in what Flutterwave had to offer when they joined the YC S16 batch. Since then, Flutterwave has become one of YCombinators top companies and is in good company alongside other Zillionize portfolio companies like Zapier, Rippling and Retool.

The raising of this Series D gives Flutterwave the ability to further develop its product range, speed up customer acquisition, possibilities of funding M&As and grow its team in other regions.
